The winner of the 2015 Armenian National Round of Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition will leave for Washington to participate in the International round. The winner of the National Competition is the students’ team of Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University.
On 22 February the final round of the national competition took place. The memorial of the Russian-Armenian (Slavonic) University was recognized the best, Sevak Aslanyan, representing Yerevan State University was recognized the best Oralist of the first preliminary round. Grigor Grigoryan was the best Oralist of the second preliminary round. Margarita Tovmasyan from the American University of Armenia was recognized the best Oralist of the third preliminary round and the best Oralist of the Armenian Competition. The team of Yerevan State University was recognized the second in the National Round.
Armenia has been participating in the Philip C. Jessup Law Moot Court Competition since 2000. The theme of 2015 Philip C. Jessup Moot Court competition concerns to the secession and annexation issues. The competition in Armenia is organized on the initiative of the Armenian Young Lawyers Association NGO, the law Foundation of Armenia and “LEGAL ALLIANCE” Law Firm in cooperation with the Jessup Club of Armenia. The winner team of the National Competition will participate in the international rounds of the 2015 Philip C. Jessup Law Moot Court Competition in Washington DC, US in April 2015.
According to the organizers, this time the level of preparedness of the teams was higher due to the fact that for the first time in the history of Jessup in Armenia, the national rounds were held in English language. Formerly, the teams were having difficulties in the international rounds due to the difficulties due to the fact that the national rounds were held in Armenian, which caused difficulties in the process of preparation to the international rounds.
